Penny CliffordPenny Clifford was born and brought up in Norfolk. An early interest in art became apparent at the early age of 11, with the creation of pen and ink drawings of irises sold at the local corner shop! It was many years, however, before her interest developed into the artistic career she has now.

In due course Penny married and had two daughters, and lived for 20 years, in the tropical British Crown Colony of the Cayman Islands. Here her creative abilities were able to develop through the National Trust. She is a largely self taught water colour artist but has also benefited from some occasional workshops with the renowned botanical artist Jenny Jowett.

She has illustrated a book “Wild Trees in the Cayman Islands” published through the National Trust of the Cayman Islands, which is now in its 2nd edition.

In 2002 Penny had 5 botanical paintings exhibited in Tasmania, and has won an award in the Cayman Islands for painting the native orchid, the national flower.

She has also done many Christmas cards for charities and illustrated a children’s book.

Penny has now returned to Norfolk, living happily in her home county with her husband and four dogs. Her love and understanding of plants is reflected in her detailed work. She undertakes commissions.
